About This Game In Exilium is a 3D, "isometric" hack and slash RPG with an emphasis on minimalistic design and player discovery. It is a simple, exploration driven experience, comprised of action based combat, character attribute customization and random item generation to accommodate many diverse play styles. Course there's not a massive budget backing this game, but for what it is it looks pretty nice, overall music and visuals present a very unique, serene setting.The char-progression feels strange at the beginnin, your leveling pretty fast, but after a while it does make a lot of sense and is pretty motivating. Then you realize how many skills are in this game: there's all, from traps to summons, melee\/buffs, per "class" (melee, ranged, spells) are amazinly many skills and there's quite the posibility to create diffrent unique builds (melee with summons for example). The whole game does not offer a large massive scale, but that's kinda the beauty of it, there are not npc and quests littering your screen, you gotta sort things out yourself, even your shop is a deadman's chest.overall a great action RPG. When you keep in mind this beeing created by a single guy you gotta have respect.. Good game. Sometimes a bit too difficult but definitely a good game. The method how the coder handles the issues and the feedbacks from the customers should be an example for every developer.. Combat and movement are clunky, loot doesn't really do anything, skills unlock linearly based on level\/stats and you only have 5 active skill slots, enemy difficulty frustratingly varies between easy and kill-you-in-one-hit. Skip this one.. Very relaxing RPG with a focus on exploration. You spend time finding all the areas on a nonlinear map (looks like the map in Fez), finding secrets etc.There are classes, skills and loot like in other RPGs. But no NPCs and no dialogue. So instead of having to do courier quests, you just walk around and see whats out there.The graphics look dated, since the game was developed by one guy.Adding difficulty levels could help make the game more challenging. Even bosses and special enemies are dispatched easily.. I was expecting something a little more like Ultima at first, just going by the video and screen shots. When I got in game and realized it wasn't like that, I thought it would be more like the original Diablo.Which is closer to an accurate comparison. It's Diablo 1 without expansive maps, loot, story, characters, environment, direction. This game is missing the things about Diablo that made it entertaining: Loot. It is what drives these kinds of games. I found almost no valuable gear whatsoever, and I'm at a fight in the very late stages of the game. I was level 12 by the time I had finally found an item other than my starting gear. By the end of the game, I had no magic armor (store bought was significantly superior), a ridiculously weak magic ring, and a mid tier magic weapon. Playing in melee is torture, too. The aiming is unreliable and skill use is clunky. I didn't bother with magic or ranged, they may be better.I don't regret buying this, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
